Recovery Learning Communities Begin!
This week, Recovery Learning Communities kick off for Northern Lakes CMH. Anyone who has an interest in learning about recovery for adults with mental illness is invited to join in the discussions.
We will come together to study recovery in detail, with a goal of helping Northern Lakes and its Recovery Council to achieve a local mental health system which is based on recovery.
Members of the Learning Communities will make up a large number of people in the six counties of northern Michigan who will all have a foundation of understanding about recovery and can help be champions for recovery system transformation. We have been studying system transformation for the past year. We have a blueprint (plan) in place, and the Learning Communities are an important part of this plan.
There will be one Learning Community in each of Northern Lakes’ four offices. Each group will meet once a month, for two hours each time. Consumers, family members, community members, and staff will come together, discuss topics, share information, look at recovery resources, have speakers, celebrate our successes, and have fun.
Come check it out and see what individuals and organizations all over the world are learning – that recovery from a mental illness is possible for everyone.
