Next Round of Mini-Conferences Being Planned!
We just completed our first round of Mini-Conferences at Northern Lakes CMH. We are offering these Learning Opportunities monthly, rotating among our offices. First was Traverse City in May, then Cadillac in June, then Houghton Lake in July. Each Mini-Conference has several segments so there is something for everyone!
In this first round, stylists from area salons volunteered with “Your Best Look” for men and women and even did haircut demonstrations! We thank Alex Billette Curtis of Salon 804 in Traverse City, Wendy Roberts of Michigan Works!, Sarah Jensen and Tanya Cedarburg of Platinum Noir Salon in Cadillac, and Emily Cameron of Emily’s Studio 55 Salon in Prudenville for helping out.
Annie Campbell and Jessie Bachmann of Disability Network of Northern Michigan spoke at all three events on employment skills and stress management. They also led a fun teambuilding exercise using cups, rubber bands and string!
Nancy Krcek Allen and Lynne Brach in Traverse City, Sue Warren of Missaukee MSU Extension, and Shari Dickson of Roscommon MSU Extension all spoke about healthy food – how to eat well on a shoestring budget, shopping tips, how to get most from your food dollar. In Traverse City, Nancy and Lynne brought a fabulous lunch. In Cadillac, a beautiful lunch was prepared by members of Club Cadillac. For Houghton Lake, lunch was prepared by Lil Bo’s in Traverse City.
So what’s next? The next round of Mini-Conferences is scheduled as follows:
- Traverse City – Tuesday, August 23, 2011 (Register by Friday, Aug. 19)
- Cadillac – Thursday, October 27, 2011 (Register by Friday, Oct. 21)
