Paffhouse Given Sperry Award
Houghton Lake Resorter 12/18/14 – Greg Paffhouse, executive director for Northern Lakes Community Mental Health, (left) recently received the Ralph Sperry Memorial Award, presented by Clarice Sperry, widow of Ralph Sperry, and Bob Carpenter, COOR ISD board president. The award is presented yearly by COOR to an individual or group in recognition of their contributions to assist people with disabilities to overcome barriers and to participate fully in their communities. Paffhouse, who plans to retire in 2015, “is a long-term advocate for people with disabilities and in his role as executive director he has supported a wide range of services that lead to enhanced independence and empowerment for people with disabilities,” a COOR press release stated. “Despite a shrinking budget and difficult choices regarding service cuts, [Paffhouse] continues to work to ensure that people with disabilities are supported to make choices and to lead independent lives. His support of community rehabilitation programs like ROOC, helps to assure a wide range of options exist for people with disabilities in our communities.” (Courtesy photo)
