Call for art – Creative Minds Changing Minds statewide show

The Community Mental Health Association of Michigan (CMHAM, formerly known as the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards), is underway in planning for its 5th statewide traveling art show, Creative Minds Changing Minds. The show will debut this May and will travel around the state for the next two years. At the end of the two years traveling around the state, the art will be auctioned to support the next show.

The goals of the show are to help de-stigmatize mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities and addictive disorders by showcasing the multidimensionality of the artists and to highlight the recovery potential of art.

Northern Lakes CMH may include one piece of art to represent the six counties we serve in this special show. The winning entry for our area will receive a purchase award of $100 in exchange for their art piece.

Art entries are now being accepted. Artists must be receiving services from Northern Lakes CMH and currently residing in Crawford, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Missaukee, Roscommon or Wexford Counties. The deadline to submit art is 4 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2018. Art may be turned in to any Northern Lakes CMH office at the reception desk.
