NLCMH goes tobacco-free today!
Today is the day that NLCMHA goes tobacco-free throughout its office campuses!
While we have been tobacco-free inside our buildings for many years, this past year we have been working in partnership with the American Lung Association and the Michigan Department of Community Health, using a Centers for Disease Control Community Transformation Grant, to expand our policy to include the grounds and parking lots of our office buildings, and also to increase our resources and capacity to help people with tobacco cessation.
A multi-disciplinary team has worked to create the support, policies and information needed to make the transition as supportive as possible for staff, physicians, persons served and visitors to our campuses.
We believe this will:
- Create a healthier environment for everyone who visits our campuses.
- Demonstrate our commitment to improve the health of the community.
- Increase provider involvement in treating nicotine addiction.
- Set an example we hope other organizations and businesses will follow.
Thank you for your support in this effort!
