3rd Annual Art of Recovery Show: Call for Artists!

Whether it’s mental illness, substance abuse, grief, loss, domestic violence, divorce, or physical illness, we all have struggles sometimes. Everyone has to recover from something at some time – it’s part of the Human Journey we all share.

The 3rd Annual Art of Recovery Show, sponsored by Northern Lakes CMH, recognizes and celebrates this.

This year’s show will start with a community-wide Open House reception on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, from 3 to 7:00 p.m. and will run through the whole month of November.

If you are an artist, please share your work with the community! Art submissions will be accepted through Monday, October 19, 2009. The Rules Flyer has details on how to submit. There is no entry fee and the show is open to all artists in northwest lower Michigan who are in the process of recovery, or have already recovered from something.

At the special reception on November 4, we will premiere some new videos that consumers have made to tell their stories. We will have music, by some of our new Northern Lakes singers, and the hammered dulcimer group, Hammer’d. Please plan to join us! We’ll be at the Inside Out Gallery, at 229 Garland Street, in the warehouse district of Traverse City.
